Welcome to wednesday.'s database of female-founded startups in Finland, a platform dedicated to celebrating and supporting women entrepreneurs.

The Finnish startup scene is thriving, especially in the Greater Helsinki area, which has been recognized as one of Europe’s most vibrant startup ecosystems. But here’s the thing: starting a startup is tough. It requires a lot of resources and risk-taking, and the number of new startups being founded each year in Finland has been declining since 2015. Could female founders be the answer to reversing this trend?

Currently, women make up just 11% of startup founders in Finland. That’s a huge untapped potential! Studies show that startups led and co-founded by women don’t just bring much-needed diversity to the table, they also tend to be great places to work, foster innovation, and drive meaningful change. Plus, female-led companies are more likely to create solutions that benefit a broader audience, tackling everything from environmental challenges to social issues.

Our goal is to provide visibility to female founders, foster collaboration within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and inspire the next generation of female founders. This database is meant to be a resource for anyone and everyone: investors, partners and especially aspiring entrepreneurs.

This is the first version of our database, and we’ll be expanding it to include more information about the startup ecosystem throughout the next year. The database includes all startups (co-)founded by women in finland and by finnish female founders abroad. We’re also planning in-person events to foster connections and collaboration—stay tuned for updates!
